Female Teacher of PE and Geography - Female - Permanent, full time

MPS/UPS

St Thomas More Catholic School is a good school (Ofsted 2022) committed to high standards of growth and professional development. The school is popular – always oversubscribed beyond our admission limit – and well respected in the local community. We are a successful school with a large sixth form located near Willenhall, with easy access to the M6 motorway network.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Geography and PE with the ability to teach both subjects. This vacancy is a unique opportunity; for a newly qualified teacher this would provide an excellent start to your teaching career, whilst for more experienced colleagues there are varied further development opportunities and rewards available.

Please note that this post is open to female applicants only in order for the school to ensure the appropriate ratio of female staff to supervise girls.

An ability to lead girls’ football would be desirable.

As a teacher of Geography, you’ll be joining an experienced group of qualified practitioners who very much work as a team with a friendly, sharing culture. Geography is the most popular option subject in the school with rapidly growing numbers taking the subject at KS4 and KS5. There are opportunities to teach at all key stages, and to lead field trips at home and abroad for all year groups and opportunities for career progression within and outside of the department.

You should:

·      Demonstrate consistently good or outstanding classroom practice.

·      Be a passionate advocate of the subjects, who contributes effectively to the department and whole school improvement plans.

·      Able to teach across the full age and ability range at age 11-16 and A Level.

·      Be eager to become a supportive Form Tutor.

·      Be able and willing to make a full contribution to the life of the school.

·      Have high expectations of self and others.

·      Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

·      Be flexible and a good team player.

·      Candidate ability to teach a second subject will be discussed at interview.

In return our school can offer you a welcoming and inclusive environment, with a culture of openness and transparency. We value highly the wellbeing of all our staff and offer a number of benefits to support this. You’ll also benefit from support, mentoring and development tailored to you, training linked to NPQML and NPQSL and further CPD supported by the diocese and local SCITT providers. Teachers flourish at St Thomas More, and we offer fantastic career advancement for teachers at all levels.

St Thomas More Catholic School is a very special place. Students are friendly, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Staff are caring, supportive and dedicated to finding the true potential in every one of our students. If you have a passion for Geography and a commitment to ensuring every student achieves their very best, we want to hear from you!
