The Role

Corfe Hills School is expanding! As a result of ongoing growth, we have several exciting job opportunities. We are an ambitious and high performing school where every student is known and supported to succeed. We are delighted with our recent Ofsted inspection in September 2021 when we were graded good in all categories. This is a fabulous opportunity to join our thriving PE department who deliver a high-quality curriculum securing strong outcomes at KS4 and KS5 as well as offering a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities for students including our bi-annual international sports tour.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and self-motivated teacher of PE to teach across KS3, KS4 and KS5. We are looking for someone with the initiative, drive and determination to teach students of all abilities. As a classroom practitioner you would need to demonstrate exceptional classroom practice and be able to motivate and inspire students. The individual will be willing to promote and contribute to the full range of extra-curricular activities. A background in Netball or Dance is desirable. This will involve 100% commitment to our vision which is captured in our strapline “High Expectations | Exceptional Individuals”.

Teaching and Learning

Teaching and Learning is at the heart of all that we do and our personalised professional development programme is centred around our Principles of Teaching that have been shaped by research from, among others, Barak Rosenshine, John Hattie and Doug Lemov. We also follow a lesson structure shaped around these principles that liberates and enables students to Learn to the Max every lesson. We are committed to regular developmental lesson visits and coaching conversations as part of our shared commitment to developing as practitioners.

The Curriculum

In Year 9, students have 3 hours per fortnight of practical PE. In Years 10 and 11, they have 1 hour per week of Core PE. In addition, we also offer GCSE PE and OCR National Sport, which each have 5 periods of teaching per fortnight.

Our A Level courses include both A-level PE and OCR Technical Sport Level 3 and are scheduled for 9 hours per fortnight.

Our Facilities

The school has a large sports hall, multi-gym equipment and another indoor space. There are four full-size grass pitches for winter sports and this is marked out with a 400 m grass running track in the summer. We have three netball courts that become five tennis courts in the summer.
