Job overview

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Teacher of PE/Humanities to join their team at St Anne's School in Alderney.

St Anne’s School is seeking to appoint with effect from 3 January 2023 or sooner an enthusiastic, dynamic and well-qualified, specialist graduate teacher with the vision and energy to deliver high standards of teaching and learning in PE and Humanities, and to make a full contribution to the ethos, identity and life of the School and to the Guernsey Federation of Secondary Schools.

The person appointed will be employed by the States of Guernsey and will be based at St Anne’s School in Alderney. The three Island 11-16 High Schools, the Guernsey Grammar School & Sixth Form Centre (11-18), and St Anne’s School in Alderney work together in a federated model of partnership led by the Director of Education.

Relocating to Alderney from the UK or EEA is very straightforward.  There are no immigration barriers and no restrictions on property purchase.  A relocation package is available to successful eligible applicants and further information about living in Alderney can be found here  http://www.alderney.gov.gg/relocate  https://www.visitalderney.com/

The successful candidate will be required to maximise opportunities for collaborative working, teaching and learning across key stages and shared professional development across schools. There is an expectation that they will engage in cross-school initiatives which may occasionally require working on more than one site to meet the needs of the Education Service.

The post holder will be required to teach PE throughout Key Stages 1-4 and some Humanities at Key Stages 3.

The successful candidate will be able to excite and challenge learners to make rapid progress and will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning. They will be passionate about raising learners’ individual achievements and will have the opportunity to deliver an innovative broad and balanced Guernsey curriculum that aims to meet all learner needs through focus on the development of the whole child.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in an All through school in a well-resourced Department.
