Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher and sports coach with the right to work in Switzerland (you must already have a work permit or an EU passport - please do not apply if you do not have one of these) to work alongside our Director of Sport and one other PE colleague. This is a part-time position across both the primary and secondary parts of the School (exact contact time will be discussed with individual candidates). It represents an exciting opportunity to help us to take sport and physical education at GES to the next level. We would like the successful candidate to have the experience of teaching GCSE and A level PE or the willingness to learn. The ability to coach netball to a high standard is also important. If you have the residency requirements to live and work in Switzerland, are fluent in French and English and are an excellent teacher or coach then please do apply.

Physical Education at GES

Encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle is at the heart of our philosophy for physical education. Our approach focuses on inspiring a genuine enthusiasm for exercise and on the enjoyment, satisfaction and benefits of keeping physically fit. Physical Education is an important part of our curriculum and a subject taught by specialists on a weekly basis across the School. With the recent addition of GCSE PE and future plans to introduce A-level PE, the focus of all PE provision leads towards these academic pathways as possibilities for our students.

Sport at GES: a sport for all approach

Our aim is to nurture and develop the physical abilities and talents of all children, allowing them to explore and enjoy sport in an environment in which they feel safe and confident. We encourage maximum participation and offer competitive sport for all abilities through internal and external events, tournaments and tours. The enthusiasm, spirit and determination shown by our individuals and teams often leads to remarkable levels of success in local and national competitions. As the School grows, we aim to offer ever more choice and opportunity for all our pupils, instilling a love of individual or team sport that will last a lifetime.

HOW TO APPLY

Further information can be found in the attached job pack. Applications should be made through our TES school portal in English and consist of a covering letter (no more than two sides of A4) outlining how you meet the personal specification and a completed online application form. The covering letter can be uploaded as part of your application on the TES. Please do not send a CV, as they are not accepted, nor apply outside of the TES platform. If you only hold a UK passport we will not be able to get you a visa for this position no matter your experience and sadly, you should not apply and will not be shortlisted.

In your application letter you should ensure that you outline your impact and successes and how you meet the job description and person specification as well as outline your most recent GCSE and A level results. Due to the large number of applications we get for every role, it will not be possible to contact every candidate but we thank you in advance for your interest in our school.

SAFER RECRUITMENT

GES is committed to equalities, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We welcome applications from suitable candidates no matter their gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers, enhanced national/international criminal records checks and prohibition from teaching checks. In some instances social media/Internet checks may also be carried out.
