Job overview

We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Teacher of Drama and Music to join our school from September 2019. We are seeking the skills of someone who can teach both Music and Drama to Key Stage 3 students as well as offer support to Key Stage 4 classes. Both subject areas have a Head of Department and the successful applicant will work alongside them both in the classroom and with extra-curricular activities.

The Arts are growing in popularity at Slough and Eton and we are looking for someone who is keen to work with the team here to develop our provision further. We run a school production every year and joined the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival for the first time this year. We are also keen to widen what we can offer to primary schools both in the Trust and which feed into Slough and Eton and the successful post-holder would be part of that exciting work. We have a dedicated Music and Drama space, which is due for refurbishment over the next two years. Building the team to lead all this work will be crucial.

This opportunity would suit someone seeking qualified teacher status in the longer term and the school has a strong track record of training and supporting staff to qualified teacher status. Previous experience of working with secondary age students is crucial for this role and Slough and Eton is firmly committed to ensuring the arts retain a place in our curriculum and that take up continues to grow.

Slough and Eton is a great school on the outskirts of Slough, which serves the Chalvey community. We are relentlessly focused on ensuring great teaching, learning and experiences are at the core of what we do.  It is an exciting time for us and our students are a pleasure to work with.

We welcome applications from colleagues who may wish to be considered in a part-time/job share capacity and are happy to explore flexible working arrangements. We are, of course, committed to safeguarding the welfare of our students and staff and will conduct all necessary DBS checks as part of our recruitment process. We look forward to hearing from you.

If you are interested in finding out more then please read the welcome letter from our Headteacher and feel free to visit the school in advance of applying. Details are on our website at in the vacancy section where you will find our application form or contact our HR Advisor, Beverly Glanville for an application form. CV’s alone will not be accepted as a valid application.
