Graveney is an extremely popular and successful 11-18 School, situated in South West London, SW17 with the benefit of being situated in beautiful campus style surroundings with excellent facilities and a warm community atmosphere. We have a commitment to providing the best opportunities to all students and to developing the professional skills and career opportunities of our staff, within a supportive and collaborative environment.
At Graveney, we are committed to delivering a broad and exciting curriculum to all of our students. We are a school with the highest aspirations and ensure exemplary standards of behaviour. We consistently achieve outstanding examination outcomes at both GCSE and A level; however, we believe in far more than academic success. Our curriculum encompasses a full range of experiences that will develop our students into confident, resilient and successful young adults with the prospect of a great future.
We are looking for an outstanding, inspirational teacher to join our team in the Department of Philosophy and Theology. There may be an opportunity for a TLR responsibility for the right candidate. NQTs are also welcome to apply. Applicants must be well qualified, passionate about their subject and able to teach Philosophy and Religious Studies to all levels including A level.
Religious Studies is taught throughout KS3 and at KS4 and the vast majority of students take GCSE full course. At A/S and A/2, the Department offers both Philosophy and Religious Studies as discrete disciplines and we are keen to build on the increasing popularity of these two subjects and the excellent results students enjoy.
We are a team of 6 and this is an opportunity to join a lively, outstanding department with a highly successful academic record. All of our team are well qualified and enthusiastic, and we place a strong emphasis on the positive relationships we enjoy with our students. The Department shares a superb brand-new building with top-of-the-range facilities with the Geography Department. In addition, every member of staff enjoys their own teaching room and office space.
Graveney School is diverse, and our approach encourages students to explore both religious and secular belief systems and values. The successful candidate will need to be a dynamic, outstanding teacher who brings vision and creativity to this post to ensure that Philosophy and Theology continue to flourish within a changing curriculum.
Our standard loading factor is 22/26. Where a teacher’s timetable comprises less than 22 teaching periods, postholders will be required to cover other classes.
