Job overview

We are seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and committed teacher of Physical Education.

We are a diverse community and strongly encourage applications from teaching and support staff from a range of backgrounds.

As an equal opportunities employer, we aim to create a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for all members of our community, from every ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability/disability, religion and background.

The Company

Trinity is one of three schools governed by the Whitgift Foundation, founded in 1596 by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, John Whitgift.

Trinity’s academic results regularly place it among the top schools in the country.

In 2018 Trinity was ranked 40th in the Parent Power list of Top 100 Independent Schools in the UK, making it the top-ranked independent school in Croydon for the third year in a row.

Beyond academic results, we celebrate intellectual curiosity and foster a culture in which pupils feel inspired to take a genuine interest in the world around them.

Exceptional staff is fundamental to our mission and we look forward to welcoming outstanding candidates to join our team.

Trinity School reserves the right to interview and appoint before the published closing date. Trinity strongly encourages applications from BAME candidates. 38% of our students are from BAME backgrounds and we want to have a staff body that reflects the diversity of the school and our local area.

Trinity School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children, young people and adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants will be required to comply with all safeguarding procedures including an Enhanced DBS check.

Our Values

At Trinity our focus is on leading through values; on the kind of young people that our students become through being at Trinity, with day-to-day school experiences and a love of learning shaping them before they move on to extraordinary futures.

Independent HMC day school of 1000 students 10-18, with a co-educational Sixth Form. Shortlisted for Independent Senior School of the Year TES Awards 2019.

Trinity is a dynamic, forward-looking school at the forefront of independent education. It offers a first-class educational experience for boys aged 10-18 and girls aged 16-18. There are currently 1000 pupils attending the school.

There are four main ages of entry into the school: at 10+ (Year 6), 11+, 13+ and 16+. Trinity has a broad ethnically and socially diverse pupil body which reflects the local area. Just over half of the pupils enter from local primary schools and, with the support of the Whitgift Foundation, Trinity is able to offer generous bursary support, with just over 50% of pupils receiving financial assistance.

The school was last inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in 2021. Trinity was awarded Excellent in both Pupils' Achievement and Personal Development and the report found, "Pupils' natural intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn is strongly supported by energetic, imaginative teaching" with an "exceptionally high standard of pastoral care."

Trinity School is part of the Whitgift Foundation, founded in 1596 by John Whitgift, Archbishop of Canterbury. For over 400 years, the Whitgift Foundation has been educating the young and caring for the elderly. It plays a significant role in Croydon life promoting educational excellence, supporting carers and providing a range of services for elderly people.

The Foundation educates over 3,000 students from in and around Croydon through its three independent schools: Trinity, Whitgift (day and boarding for boys aged 10-18) and Old Palace of John Whitgift School (nursery for boys and girls from age 3 months to 4 years and day school for girls aged 4 to 18). The schools and their pupils benefit from the support of one of the largest bursary schemes in the country. Over 46% of students are currently supported by a bursary or scholarship scheme, totalling in excess of £5million per year.
