Teacher of Physical Education - Island School

Island School is seeking a full-time Teacher of Physical Education for a position starting in August 2024. The school has recently moved to a purpose-built 8-storey campus, which is conveniently located in Mid-levels. The teacher will be required to teach all levels of Physical and Health Education. The appointed teacher will be responsible for instructing students at all levels in Physical and Health Education. Familiarity with the MYP program would be advantageous, and the ability to teach a second subject area is desirable.

Physical and Health Education holds a significant role at Island School, and the sports program has grown considerably since relocating back to Borrett Road. The school offers a diverse range of Extra Curricular Activities, with sports teams actively participating in various sporting competitions. The exceptional sports facilities include a large fitness facility, a double sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, an astroturf pitch, a climbing wall, and rooftop courts.

Key Responsibilities for this role

• Teaching all levels of Physical and Health Education to secondary students. 
• Actively contribute to the Extra Curricular Program 
• Lead school sports teams
• Have the responsibility of overseeing a tutor group

Key Requirements 

The successful candidate will have:

• A relevant Bachelor's degree and/or postgraduate teaching qualification in Physical Education
• 2+ years of teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation is preferred
• A commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school
• Excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team
• The ability to realise the potential of students of all learning needs
• The desire to embrace faculty-wide professional development and alternative curriculum models in Physical Education
• Knowledge and experience in utilising Learning Technologies in their teaching
