Job overview

Teacher of Physical Education

Lacrosse Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented teacher to join the existing team of Senior School staff from April or September 2018. Expertise in lacrosse is essential to complement our outstandingly strong and successful department.

Applications are welcome from experienced teachers, NQTs or those wishing to obtain Initial Teacher Training via the School Direct programme.

Guildford High School has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in sport.  A full fixtures list provides numerous opportunities for girls to represent school and we consistently achieve significant success at local, county and national competitions across all age groups.  The girls enjoy lacrosse, netball, rounders, tennis, gym, dance, swimming and athletics within their timetabled PE lessons.

Numerous other extra-curricular activities, including fencing, indoor rowing, sailing and hockey are offered.  A large number of teams run for the most popular sports to allow as many girls as possible to play competitively.

Our ethos of excellence in sport sits comfortably alongside a ‘sport for all’ policy, which promotes participation for fun, health and recreation.  In Sixth Form, alongside the traditional school sports, girls can opt for activities as diverse as yoga, ice-skating and golf.

A gymnasium is housed in the main school building and the purpose built Sports Centre incorporates a large sports hall, a six lane 25m pool with touch-pad timing, a social area and a well-equipped fitness suite.
