We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, capable and enthusiastic teacher, with a proven commitment to inclusive, innovative and inspiring teaching where each and every child can succeed. The post represents an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant and ambitious Academy working within the Ted Wragg Multi-Academy Trust.
Our school is located on a recently designed campus with purpose-built accommodation, offering spacious and excellent teaching and learning facilities. We currently have a roll of 840 students, building up to a capacity of 950. The facilities for PE are extensive, including rugby and football pitches, multi-purpose all weather pitch, netball/tennis courts, fitness suite, an athletics track (Summer Term), a large sports hall and dance practice room.
Isca Academy prides itself on providing high quality comprehensive education. Our students have a broad range of abilities and aspirations on entry, from able, gifted and talented to students needing more support with literacy and social skills. Beyond academic credentials, we firmly believe in the value of a more rounded education, which promotes creativity, self-belief and confidence, and as such, offer exceptional extra-curricular and outdoor education programmes. At our Ofsted inspection in 2016, Isca Academy was found to be ‘Good’ in all categories and our focus remains on every student exceeding expectations, whatever their starting point.
The PE Department at Isca Academy offers a full and extensive curriculum that encompasses all the requirements of the national curriculum in PE. In years 7 and 8 (KS3), students experience a more traditional PE curriculum: rugby, football, badminton, basketball, hockey, gymnastics, dance, tennis, athletics and rounders. In Years 9, 10 and 11, students can opt for a GCSE PE or Ncfe V-Cert in Health and Fitness, which is on top of their two hours per week of core PE entitlement. Our examined courses in the last five years have been doing well, with an average output of 78% A*-C achievement over those years. Extra-curricular sport is equally strong, with an array of clubs and teams competing across many sports every night of the week. In addition, inter-house sport is integral to the life of the school, with a year’s worth of competitions leading to the much coveted House Competition Cup.
