Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding professional to join the Physical Education Department as soon as possible. 

More House School is an independent school for girls aged 11-18 situated in the heart of Knightsbridge. The PE department consists of 3 members of full-time staff and a part-time dance teacher. The department is a dynamic, stimulating and successful department, which believes in providing high quality physical education lesson and sports sessions using a variety of teaching and learning strategies.

This post could suit either an experienced teacher (there is a possibility of a Head of Department role from September) or someone seeking NQT status (we have a full induction programme in place).

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the GCSE and A level PE curriculums and will be required to teach core PE to KS3-KS5.

The girls at More House play netball, hockey and rounders as their core sports. Sport is flourishing at the school and in the last couple years we have been Borough Netball Champions in U12, U13 and U16, achieved success at the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships, U13 Borough Champions in indoor cricket and have a number of girls competing at an elite level in rowing, fencing, golf and Irish Dancing. In addition to the major sports, there is a multitude of extra-curricular sporting activities on offer throughout the school day in a bid to maximise engagement in pursuit of a healthy and active lifestyle. It is an expectation that members of the Physical Education department contribute to these clubs.

The department takes full advantage of the outstanding local sports facilities at Battersea Park, Imperial College, Latchmere Leisure Centre, Imperial College and Hyde Park.

More House is an independent Catholic day school for girls aged 11 to 18, founded in 1953 by the Canonesses of St Augustine. In 1971, the School moved to its present home in Knightsbridge, where it is now managed by a lay charitable trust.
