A well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher is required to join a thriving PE Department in this happy and outstandingly successful independent day school for girls.
Physical Education is a vital element of our pupils’ school experience from its very beginning Withington has had a strong sporting tradition and we strive to promote physical well-being, encouraging pupils to enjoy both competitive and recreational sport so that they learn the value of regular exercise, healthy living and team membership as part of preparation for life. We have created more space and are improving the quality of our sporting facilities here at Withington, we want to encourage greater participation and a deeper enjoyment of compulsory and extra-curricular sport and exercise among our girls.
We are currently extending and enhancing our current sports facilities into a bigger, better Sports Centre that we can be proud of, our other facilities include playing fields, a floodlit astroturf pitch, two floodlit netball courts and a large grassed area. Indoors there is a large modern Sports Hall and a Gym/Dance Studio and a fitness suite; Sixth Form pupils have open access in their free time and it is used in lessons from year 9 onwards. Our recently installed floodlights have opened up many more opportunities to continue winter sports practice and to host Home matches on dark winter afternoons.
