Teacher of Physics

This post requires someone with good pedagogic skills and a strong understanding of Physics.  Experience of teaching A level is desirable, but not essential.

The successful applicant will be joining an experienced, dynamic and welcoming team of teachers in the Mathematical Sciences Department led by the Head of Department, David Robinson. Physics is a well-established subject in the College with a strong track record.  AS and A2 OCR Physics (syllabus A) have been offered for a number of years, meaning there is a bank of existing resources available to support the successful applicant. 

The appointee will be expected to use varied and imaginative teaching methods to engage learners and communicate purpose and enthusiasm in the subject. Having a good knowledge base you will need to be clear and systematic in defining conceptual links and applications. Like all our departments, the Physics department is strongly committed to providing individual learners with extra support to help bring out the best in them.

Whilst the successful applicant is likely to be the sole teacher of the subject, Physics is part of the supportive and innovative Mathematical Sciences Department which includes Mathematics, Physics, Computing and Engineering. In creating departments out of clusters of related subjects, the College was concerned to ensure each teacher was part of a substantial team, and able to benefit from sharing practice within the department.
