Hills Road Sixth Form College is seeking to recruit a dynamic teacher of A-level Politics who has enthusiasm, expertise and excellent subject knowledge to join the Political and Social Sciences department on 31st August 2021. This post of 18 teaching periods a week would suit either a newly qualified or a more experienced teacher. 

For candidates who could also offer A Level Sociology, these 18 periods could be split between Politics and Sociology. 

We are looking for teachers with a lively and stimulating approach to teaching and learning; the ability to teach to a high academic standard and a commitment to equality of opportunity and the learning and well-being of young people.

About Hills Road Sixth Form College

The College operates on an attractive site just over a mile south of the centre of the historic city of Cambridge. Having responded to strong and sustained demand for places over a number of years we now have approaching 2,400 full-time 16-19 students for whom we provide a wide choice of A level subjects, together with the Extended Project qualification, an extensive and varied enrichment programme and responsive individual support and guidance. We also welcome around 4,000 part-time students on to our adult education programme in the evenings and at weekends.  The College is a study centre for the Open University and has a thriving Sports and Tennis Centre that is open to the local community.

The College has had the highest score of any sixth form college in the country in the Government’s examination performance table for ‘points per examination entry’ since the tables’ inception in 1993. In recent years the tables have included the percentage of students achieving at least AAB at A level in at least two of the Russell Group's 'facilitating subjects' with the College recording the strongest sixth form college percentage in each year. Retention and success rates are high and over 90% of our students progress to higher education.
