About Tighnabruaich Primary School

Quote on Tighnabruaich Primary School

I would like to highlight the positive aspects of living in such a beautiful area on the Cowal Peninsula.

I grew up in this area and attended the local school as a child before finishing my further education in Dunoon and attending college in Glasgow. I have gone on to enjoy great success in my career and I attribute this to the environment that I was taught in which gave me the confidence as an individual in my early education at Tighnabruaich Primary School.
My husband and I had the opportunity to move back to this area in 2001 with our son who was 2 at the time .He in turn has attended the local school for his pre school education and now in P6 he has a further years education before moving on to Grammar school. I can only praise the school and the teachers in affording my son a first class education and providing him with the security and confidence to be an individual and blossom in his own right.

The school was an important reason for us moving here - it has given my son advantages in his education along with the comfort and security that living in the Tighnabruaich area gives our children -opportunities that they would not have had living in a more densely populated area.
No more than 45 minutes from Dunoon and 2hours maximum from Glasgow we are within an easy commute to larger towns .The Portavadie to Tarbert Ferry gives us a flow through of people / traffic that keeps the local economy thriving.

We run a local business that has prospered by being in this location, we have had media coverage and awards that we feel would have gone unnoticed in a bigger picture.

With the local economy thriving and investment in the private sector business on the increase this is generating a new energy into the area in long term business which will increase the younger population through employment opportunities.

Tighnabruaich has much to offer with a good range of activities that people can participate in from sailing to horse riding, golf and numerous groups doing drama, bowling etc.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the area or the school to any individual who feels that they would like to live in a safe location and be as involved and accepted by the local community as they choose.

Isobel Lindsay, Parent and local business woman
