Merchiston International School
MIS is a thriving learning community which challenges all staff to push boundaries with their teaching and to be progressive in their own professional learning.
We offer an innovative British independent school curriculum for international students aged 4 – 18, starting in EYFS and culminating in IGCSE and GCE A Level. The campus, imbued with the ethos of its founding school, Merchiston Castle School Edinburgh, is designed to create the kind of innovative learning spaces in which an effective 21st century education can flourish and inspire.
All MIS teachers are expected to participate fully in the school’s life beyond the classroom by contributing to boarding house life.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be fully involved with the extra-curricular music programme throughout the whole school (Year 1 to Year 13), and practical expertise, whether instrumental or choral, is essential. The school is divided by phase with heads of Seniors and Juniors, but we are one school and the successful candidate will answer to the Whole School Director of Performing Arts, who is a music specialist.
The successful candidate will be given leadership opportunities in our major events such as Festival of Carols and Readings, Founders’ Day, Clan Music Competitions, as well as regular informal performances. There will also be the opportunity to work with the Senior School choir, Schola Cantorum, orchestras (Chinese and Western) and many other ensembles.
