Permanent, part-time (3 days per week to include a Friday) with the possibility of full time if can teach a second subject preferably Mathematics or English for 2 days. Applications welcome from Newly Qualified Teachers beginning their careers. 

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and dynamic teacher to join our successful Design and Technology Faculty, someone with energy and innovation with a passion for Product Design and the learning experience. 

The Design and Technology Faculty enjoys excellent results across all key stages. The successful candidate will be able to teach across the ability and age range, supporting the development of Product Design to the highest standard for all students. An ability to teach another Design & Technology subject would be an advantage but is not essential.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Be an outstanding teacher.
  • Raise achievement through high quality teaching and learning in Resistant Materials and Product Design.
  • Be passionate about teaching Resistant Materials. Have a sound knowledge of CAD/CAM and evidence of exam success.
  • Have a good understanding of how data supports and enhances student progress and achievement.
  • Be an enthusiastic professional committed to providing our students with an outstanding education.
  • Be able to inspire commitment and enthusiasm for Resistant Materials and Product Design in all Key Stages.
  • Be a positive team player with a strong commitment to professional development.
  •  Will have an awareness of the new curriculum.

We are a mixed 4 – 18 Academy with over 1200 pupils on roll. The school is situated in beautiful countryside, occupying approximately 35 acres just to the north of Great Dunmow.

The school was established in 1958 and is named in honour of the first Chair of Governors.

At Helena Romanes, we are ambitious for our pupils and we offer them a rich and varied curriculum. Our pupils develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that enables them to move successfully into higher education, apprenticeships, training or employment.
