Job overview
Teacher of PSHRE/Humanities
Full-time and temporary until August 2020
MPS/UPS
We wish to appoint, an enthusiastic, pupil-centred and energetic teacher of PSHRE and Humanities who will relish the opportunity to teach these subjects across all Key Stages, as part of a strong and mutually supportive department. We believe that PSHRE and Humanities should arouse the interest of pupils and be relevant to their lives, while maintaining and supporting academic excellence and intellectual rigour.
As a faculty we are dedicated to an approach that is investigative, experiential and reflective, building on students’ own experiences. To bring the subject in to real world context, we have good links with a range of outside speakers such as the Police and School Nurses and we organise a number of trips to local places of worship, including an Anglican Church, Gurdwara, Mosque and Buddhist Centres.
Our new PSHRE/Humanities teacher will join a vibrant team of talented colleagues who are committed to providing excellence for all. You would be working in our well-equipped dedicated classrooms with access to ICT suites in addition to a departmental set of laptops to bring technology into the classroom. You would have the advantage of outstanding CPD provision, if appropriate an established and successful NQT programme, potential for in-house career progression opportunities, regular staff-wellbeing events and access to a generous benefit package through Wiltshire Rewards.
Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers or NQTS. Should you wish discuss this post please contact Heather Baker, HR Manager on 01249 650693 in the first instance.
Closing date: 8.30am on Monday 20 January 2020

About Hardenhuish School
Our school is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school set in the magnificent parkland of the former Hardenhuish Manor and Chippenham Grammar School.
We enjoy an outstanding reputation locally and nationally as a ‘High Performing Specialist Academy’ being the first school in Wiltshire to take advantage of more local ‘quality control’ as part of the Coalition Government’s flagship academy scheme. At Hardenhuish we put children at the centre of all we do: we believe in a three way partnership with school, home and the individual, ensuring that each and every young person is ‘inspired to learn, supported to succeed’.
Our aim is that each Hardenhuish pupil not only achieves academic excellence, and the qualifications to take them to further or higher education and adult working life, but also take advantage of a myriad of social, personal and recreational enrichment opportunities. Our specialisms in Mathematics and Computing (since 2003) and Science (since April 2009) are complemented by our status as the only Lead School for Gifted and Talented learners in North Wiltshire, a status which recognises our exemplary provision for the most able pupils and our outreach programme which benefits the wider community.
The learning environment at Hardenhuish now boasts a Technology Centre, Sports Hall with climbing wall, English and Performing Arts Centre and two-storey Sixth Form Centre, along with the extensively redeveloped Science and Maths Centres, which means that our campus has some of the most impressive educational facilities in the County.
