About the role: The Hundred of Hoo Academy has a rare and exciting opportunity to appoint a dynamic and exceptional Teacher of Psychology and Sociology to join our growing department for September 2019. We are seeking a teacher who is passionate about this subject area and who can build upon the existing popularity of subjects such as Sociology, and ensure the trend of excellent results across the Academy continues. We currently offer Sociology, and PSHE at GCSE and Sociology at Post 16, however with the appointment of the new teacher, we will then have the capacity to offer Psychology and Criminology at Post 16. Please note that it is not a requirement that our successful candidate delivers all four remits; Psychology and Sociology are the main requirements for this position.
Applications from teachers at any stage in their career are welcome; experienced teachers with the ambition to train to develop further, NQTs, and those looking to experience a supportive environment where they can focus on teaching. The duties and responsibilities associated with this post are in line with the National Teaching Standards. Ideally, our successful candidate will join us on a full-time basis but for the right candidate, we may be able to offer 0.8fte (4 days per week).

Working with our academy: In September 2011, The Hundred of Hoo converted to academy status and became a member of The Williamson Trust. Just one year later, Ofsted judged the academy as “good with outstanding features” recognising the relentless focus and ambition that we have. In September 2015 the academy welcomed its first Reception class thereby extending its age range to 4-year-old children. This exciting provision demonstrates the academy’s sense of ambition to serve the community where pupils’ academic journey represents a cradle to university principle.
We are delighted to announce that following a recent Ofsted inspection in July 2018 the academy has been judged 'Good' with 'Outstanding' features in terms of our early years provision and effectiveness of leadership and management.
Working with Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st January 2019, our Trust is comprised of 23 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 11 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.
As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together.
