Job overview

MPS (Full Time) x 1

MPS (Part time 0.5) x1

To start from 1st September 2021, we are looking for two exceptional Psychology teachers who will inspire and motivate students in this high achieving state-funded day and boarding school for boys in the lower school and large mixed Sixth Form.

The current Psychology teachers are relocating so this is an opportunity for a new team of Psychology staff within the Social Sciences Faculty. There may also be the opportunity for the right candidate to take on a Lead Teacher responsibility with associated TLR payment.

We are looking for candidates with dynamism, high expectations/standards, and who will create a buzz and excitement both within and beyond the confines of the classroom.   The successful candidates will have to demonstrate an ability to deliver outstanding academic results and exemplary classroom practice.

Psychology is taught at A’ Level and the examination results are strong with over 90% achieving A’ level grades A*-C in each of the last three years. The Social Sciences Faculty is proud of the success of their students at A’ level, and students’ achievements in securing places at university or elite apprenticeships.

The School has a vibrant extra-curricular life, which includes sport, music, debating and public speaking.  A willingness to contribute will be a clear advantage.

The Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Disclosure Barring Service Certificate is required for this post prior to commencement.

The Application Pack is available on the Beechen Cliff School website and attached to this advert.   Applications should be made via the TES Quick Apply by noon on Monday 24th May 2021.  Interviews are currently planned to take place later that week.

About Beechen Cliff School

Our purpose at Beechen Cliff is to develop the compassion, aspiration, balance and resilience of each pupil.  When pupils leave us we want them to be at ease with themselves, to have a sense of self-worth, to be able to stand up for their beliefs and to be a valuable member of society.

We are proudly traditional in our approach and offer a strong academic curriculum.  Although methods of teaching and expectations of society have changed, the essence of a high quality education remains unchanged.  It is these timeless qualities and Beechen Cliff’s sense of tradition that is valued by generations of parents and pupils.
