Teacher of Psychology

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated teacher of Psychology who is committed to raising standards and expectations.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in and help shape our Academy, at an exciting stage in its development. The post reflects the continued expansion of the Academy and offers significant scope for professional and career development as the Academy continues to grow in size.

The successful candidate should be an ambitious colleague who combines excellent organisational skills with the ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students. They should be a hardworking, creative, energetic, and excellent classroom practitioner. They will have the capacity to help us establish a vibrant learning environment, and a culture of enthusiasm for learning. Their professionalism and dedication will enable our students to achieve more than they believe possible.

BTEC Applied Psychology is offered to all students at Key Stage 5 as part of the International Baccalaureate Careers Related Programme (IBCP). Psychology lessons are taught as part of the Humanities curriculum which is housed in its own wing of the Academy. Psychology is a popular subject choice at Year 12 and many students are interested in pursuing further education opportunities in this discipline. Students have 7 lessons per fortnight in which they learn about Psychological Approaches and their application to gender, aggression and consumer behaviour as well as Research Methods. In Year 13 students study Health Psychology and an optional unit which is Psychopathology. Both Research Methods and Psychopathology are internally assessed.
