Job overview

An energetic and dedicated teacher of RE is required for an ambitious school that is well on the way to achieving outstanding status. A recent inspection by the Diocese of Westminster judged the teaching of RE and the Catholic Life of the School to be ‘outstanding’. The subject is popular throughout the school and has good recruitment, with outstanding results, in our large 6th form.

Your passion for RE and your excellent subject knowledge will enable you to make a significant contribution to the faculty. You will be able to motivate and teach pupils across the age and ability range, up to Advance level, and be committed to raising attainment. The post would suit a committed individual who wants to make a difference and help all our students to achieve the highest possible standards.

“Students enjoy coming to school, and show high levels of courtesy and respect to each other and to their teachers.” Ofsted 2013

We are a comprehensive school located in East Finchley, focused on achieving the very best for our young people whatever their academic starting point. We offer a flourishing, vibrant and enriching environment where learning never stops. This is reflected by our exceptional academic success and our nurturing pastoral care. We achieved 7th in the country for progress at GCSE (DfE 2019). Each child is valued, and we take responsibility for challenging your son or daughter and helping them to fulfil their potential.  Every young person is valued as a unique individual. We have an exceptional transition and induction programme for all prospective students. We expect our students to progress into our exceptional sixth form where an unprecedented number of students achieve places at Russell Group universities.

We are immensely proud to lead our school of high achievement, aspirations and expectations for all. Our success is underpinned by a close and inclusive community. This reflects our school mission ‘to be the best we can be, respecting diversity and supporting one another in our community’. The most recent Ofsted inspection states that “Pupils are given many opportunities to foster the skills required for them to take control of their own learning” and our Diocese reports that “Staff at all levels strive to ensure that students flourish and grow into responsible adults, ready to take their place in the world and confident in expressing Christian values in their daily lives.” We provide much philanthropy, volunteering and charity opportunities based on our Catholic ethos and Christian values.

We offer a broad, balanced, deep and knowledge rich curriculum that is ambitious for all our students. The curriculum is bespoke and personalised, tailored to the needs of every child. We have a comprehensive extracurricular programme that enables growth and development beyond the classroom including trips overseas and educational experiences in the UK. We take great pride in allowing our students to reach their potential in all the subjects that they study. Everything we do is set up to help children flourish in a disciplined yet caring environment. We will nurture every child to grow in all aspects and give them care and attention that will enable them to flourish into a well-rounded young person.
