About St Thomas of Aquin's RC High School

St Thomas of Aquin’s RC High School is a mixed, non-selective, Roman Catholic secondary school with a sixth form situated in the Tollcross region of Edinburgh. It is a mainstream state school. The school provides almost 800 places for secondary school students between the ages of 11-18.

The school has its roots in St Thomas of Aquin’s College, which opened in 1886 as a girls-only school, with male students being admitted from 1961. A new school building opened in 2002, and the current head has been serving since 2014. The school was named after St Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), who was the patron saint of schools and universities, and left a number of philosophical and theological writings.
