We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspirational Teacher of Religious Education to join a committed and successful Humanities department. This post is suitable for either an experienced teacher or an ECT seeking to start their career in a caring and supportive team with expertise in training and development. Part-time requests may be accommodated.

Testbourne is a high performing school, with students achieving our highest results on record in the summer 2022. 85% achieved a ‘standard’ pass of grade 4 and above in English and Maths combined. Almost a quarter of students achieved the top grades, 9-7, in both English and Maths. A staggering total of 135 grade 9s were achieved by our year 11s across their subjects.

The successful candidate will:

·        be an excellent or potentially excellent teacher of RE

·        be passionate about RE and engaging students in the subjects

·        have experience of teaching another Humanities subject outside their specialism

·        have a passion for learning and teaching, and be committed to continuous learning and professional development

·        be forward thinking and keen to develop as a practitioner

·        have fantastic subject knowledge and be passionate about helping all students to appreciate RE and achieve excellent standards in the subject

In 2021, our TAG Attainment 8 score was 56.43 and 67% achieved a grade 5+ in English and Maths. 84% of students achieved 4+ in English and Maths which is a fantastic achievement.

The school serves the town of Whitchurch and the surrounding area and is within easy reach of Winchester, Newbury, Basingstoke and Southampton with good transport links to the M3 and A34.

Situated on the River Test and surrounded by picturesque rolling countryside, Whitchurch is Hampshire’s smallest town.   Much of this charming town is a conservation area and contains many listed and notable buildings.  It is also host to Whitchurch Silk Mill, a 19th century water mill which is one of Hampshire's hidden gems.
