Job overview
Are you an inspirational teacher of Religious Studies? Are your students inspired by your teaching? Would you love the opportunity to introduce RS as a new subject?
John Flamsteed Community School is an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school located in Denby, Derbyshire within easy reach of Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield and the Peak District. We are a founding member of the East Midlands Education Trust and work in close partnership with other academies within the Trust. We enjoy an excellent local reputation and our intake has expanded from four to six forms of entry in recent years.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious teacher of Religious Studies who will be able to introduce our students to a vibrant RS curriculum where all world faiths are explored, helping students to prepare for life in multi-cultural 21st Century Britain. This is a new subject area for John Flamsteed Community School, previously only being taught at KS3 as part of SMSC. We see preparing our young people for life in modern Britain to be an essential part of our role and you will be expected to set up and implement this subject; successfully demonstrating knowledge, understanding and experience of improving learning and raising standards, with an ability to teach RS across all levels, initially at KS3 with GCSE RS being offered from September 2019. We expect a proven track record of delivering excellent lessons alongside exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills. The ability to offer History at KS3 would be an advantage but is not essential.
An application form and information is available on our website www.jfcs.org.uk. or by emailing Jenny Stephenson (HR Officer) stephensonj@jfcs.org.uk.
Closing date for applications: Friday 4 May 2018
