Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a talented, passionate and skilled Teacher of Religious Studies to join a successful and experienced department in our Church of England 11-18 comprehensive school.

Hutton is a regularly oversubscribed single sex boys school from 11-16 with 741 students currently on roll. The school is co-educational from 16-18 with 137 students currently on roll. The school was judged ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in May 2017 and ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by SIAMS in February 2018.

The Religious Studies department currently consists of four members of staff and produces above national average grades for GCSE and A Level. In our previous SIAMS report the Religious Studies department was graded as outstanding.

Our success can be credited to our hard-working students, supportive parents and committed and dedicated staff both within the Religious Studies Department and school as a whole.

The Religious Studies department currently follows the AQA, Specification A at GCSE and EDEXCEL at A Level. Subjects studies within the A Level include the philosophy of religion, ethics and New Testament studies.

We are looking for a teacher who can use their skills and knowledge to motivate, support and inspire our students to achieve their full potential. The post-holder will teach primarily Religious Studies but may also be required to teach a small amount of Humanities. There may be opportunity to teach at A Level for suitably experienced candidates. This post would be suitable for newly qualified teachers.

If you would like to arrange a visit to school prior to applying, would like to discuss the post further or have any questions, please contact the school via email to the HR Administrator, Ms K Wohlman, at k.wohlman@huttongrammar.org.

If you like what you have read so far and wish to be considered for this role, please complete the application form. Completed application forms and any accompanying documentation should be sent to HR Administrator, Karen Wohlman, at k.wohlman@huttongrammar.org

Application forms, alongside job and person specifications, are also available from the school website www.huttongrammar.org.

All completed application forms should be accompanied by a letter, no longer than two sides A4 in length, outlining a candidate’s suitability for the post.

The school is committed to the safeguarding and well-being of all young people and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to Enhanced DBS clearance.
