Job overview

Teacher of Resistant Materials KS3 & 4

MPS/UPS  +  2 SEN points (additional paid residential duties may be available)

Following the expansion of our school and the retirement of a current teacher, we are seeking to appoint a high quality teacher of Resistant Materials to join our team on the Windlestone Site  DL17 0HP.

Elemore Hall is a well established and thriving Durham County Council maintained, residential and day special school. From September 2021 we will be expanding to include two other sites in other parts of County Durham, creating a 186 place school for secondary aged pupils who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Many of our pupils have additional general or specific learning difficulties. The school is committed to providing academic, social and residential education of the highest quality in partnership with pupils, governors, parents, carers, the LA, health and other agencies.

The Resistant Materials provision in the school consists of two teachers plus support staff spread across the two main sites. Teachers work collaboratively in planning the curriculum. Pupils currently work towards GCSE in Resistant Materials although other accredited courses could be introduced if appropriate for our pupils. The Resistant Materials room at Windlestone is a great space and has some excellent resources, however investment will be made available to develop the subject further.

Teachers at the school are encouraged to be involved in the provision of activities in our extended day/residential programme (this is not compulsory and is negotiated individually, but is paid). We welcome applications from teachers of all levels of experience including NQTs, getting the right person for our school is our priority.

There is so much to say about the school and the vacancies that potential candidates are strongly encouraged to visit or telephone the Headteacher for further information. All applications must be made on the standard application form, this, along with further details about the school and the post, is obtainable by contacting the school on 0191 372 0275 or from the school website   www.elemorehallschool.com

Following Safer Recruitment guidelines, only candidates who achieve enhanced DBS clearance, pass a health check and have at least two supportive references (including most recent employer) will be eligible for employment.

Please note that the Childcare Disqualifications Regulations 2009 apply to this position and therefore you are required to complete the “disqualification by association” declaration form.  Should you be successful in your application for this post, your appointment can not be progressed without this declaration.

Closing date:  5.00pm on Wednesday 19th May 2021

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 26th May 2021
