Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to join our collaborative and supportive Science & ICT Departments from September 2023.

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified professional who is both passionate and knowledgeable to work across our science and ICT departments at an exciting time in the school’s history. The school has been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in each of its last three inspections, most recently in January 2023:  “Blue Coat Church of England Academy is an inclusive school where kindness flourishes. The school’s values include wisdom, service, endurance and hope. The school’s culture is rooted in these values. There are positive relationships between staff and pupils. Staff know their pupils well, and pupils feel cared for. Staff have high expectations, and pupils live up to these.”

The science department has recently undertaken a multi-million pound refurbishment as part of the Department for Education’s Priority Schools Building Programme, while there has also been considerable investment to upgrade our ICT provision across the school. Both departments now have facilities which provide superb foundations for the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across all of disciplines.

Values and vision

Walsall Blue Coat Academy bases its ideals upon its Christian foundation and strives to introduce Christian aspects of teaching into all that it does.

For instance, during form time each day all students participate in a daily act of worship which includes prayer and time for reflection. Regular meetings are also held for staff and students, during which prayers are said and thoughts are focused on people in need. Certain students are also instrumental in spreading the word of Christianity through, for example, taking assemblies to junior schools.

Walsall Blue Coat Academy also has dedicated itself to striving to foster a caring attitude towards the wider global community. Indeed, each year the school raises money for a charity voted for by all students. In 2015, students raised over £4,400 for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Ofsted

“The curriculum is good and its focus on developing students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding is excellent. The academy prepares students very well for life in modern democratic Britain, and its focus on developing community cohesion is exemplary. Governors and academy sponsors provide very good support for academy leaders.”
