Job overview

Oak Hill School is a small provision for pupils aged 11-16, all of whom have an EHCP in the category of Social, Emotional and Mental Health.  We currently have 30 pupils on roll (rising to 40 within the next year). Science is an important and popular subject for our pupils and pupils enjoy their lessons in this area. We are looking for a Science teacher to join us to run our Science department, delivering lessons to our interesting and challenging pupils.

Oak Hill School is a warm and welcoming school where the pastoral care is at the forefront of everything we do. We build close relationships with our pupils and their families and this gives us the bedrock from which we can work with our cohort to help them all achieve their potential and make their school days happy, fulfilling and purposeful. This nurturing environment is extended to our staff team where we pride ourselves on looking after our teachers and support staff in the same way as we do our pupils. We have a very low staff turnover, which we believe is a result of the happy and supportive ethos along which the school runs.

All pupils study Science at KS3 and most will continue to study the subject at BTEC or GCSE level. Classes have a high staff to pupil ratio - a member of our team of highly experienced and skilled LSAs and support staff supports teachers in every lesson.  We have high expectations of our pupils in terms of behaviour and work output and all staff are trained and encouraged in their development of effective behaviour management skills.

If you are interested in joining our school we would love to hear from you. For further details, a full job description and an application form please telephone Mrs Nicola Baker on 020 8361 4639 or email nicola.baker@apoakhill.org.uk

We comply fully with the ethos of safer recruitment and undertake all relevant checks. References will be sought before interview. We welcome visits to the school prior to application and/or interview.

Closing date for applications 5pm on 3rd November 2017.

Interviews will take place w/c 6th November 2017.

Welcome from the Head of School.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Oak Hill School where boys and girls can find a nurturing, inclusive and vibrant setting in which to develop their social, creative and academic skills. We are relentless in our quest to understand the needs of our students so that we can deliver targeted pastoral support and teaching of behaviour to facilitate high quality learning experiences. We work with our partners to deliver a curriculum that is varied, stimulating and sympathetic to the different individual needs of our learners.

We celebrate our students’ successful transition into the next phase of their education or training and are committed to instilling community values that enable them to live healthy and fulfilling lives. We may only be one stage in their development but we want young people to look back at their time at Oak Hill as a period characterised by enjoyment, enrichment and inspirational learning.
