NOR 1203 including 266 in Sixth Form
Required for January 2018
Teacher of Science
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a very successful and forward thinking Science Department within a Teaching School which is thriving, enthusiastic with real team spirit. Our results have been consistently high year on year and in August 2017 the GCSE results were: 100% A*-C in Physics and Chemistry; 98% in Biology; 72% A*- C in Additional Science and 80% in Core Science. At A Level in Biology, Chemistry and Physics we had 100% pass rate.
We are looking for a well-qualified teacher. The successful candidate will have a proven track record and committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment. Applicants must be able to teach across the ability range at KS3 and KS4. You will need to be passionate, well organised, enthusiastic and hardworking, having high expectations of students and colleagues. The post is suitable for an NQT. The ability to teach GCSE Physics would be an advantage but not essential.
We provide a first class INSET programme at Bishop Challoner, which supports the professional development of teachers at all stages in their careers.
Bishop Challoner is a very successful, heavily over-subscribed mixed 11-19 comprehensive school in the South of Birmingham. We were designated one of the first 100 Teaching Schools in the country. This is a measure of the high achievement of the school and its excellence in training and developing staff. This will allow exciting opportunities for any newly appointed members of staff.
Bishop Challoner is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. It has policies and procedures to ensure that this occurs. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
