Job overview

Teacher of Science

Required September 2017

MPS / UPR

Carlton Bolling is a rapidly improving school, which has the highest expectations of its students and the ambition to be outstanding within the next few years.

It is a great place to work with staff surveys and extremely low staff turnover evidence of this, with the recent Ofsted report noting “An impressive shift in the views of staff and parents about the college, which are overwhelmingly positive”.

Major factors behind this are:

  • Small Class Sizes: An average of 15 in English and Maths classes across all year groups, with 18 in Humanities and around 22 for all other subjects. This allows teachers to do the best job possible and also eases the burden of marking to allow a proper work-life balance.
  • Well Behaved Students: Teachers can do the job they came in to teaching to do – teach not control behaviour.
  • Reducing Unnecessary Meetings and Red Tape: We believe in completing a job rather than talking or writing about it.

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, innovative, and highly skilled Science Teacher (Physics would be desirable) who will motivate and excite young people, raising their expectations and turn students with promise into skillful learners. A candidate who also has the potential to inspire, support and motivate colleagues in raising attainment and is open to coaching and development if required in order to progress their career and practice.

The Science Faculty has consistently produced excellent results at KS4 and KS5. The ideal candidate will work relentlessly to improve and build on these results. The ability to develop strong Teaching and Learning strategies and ensure sustained improvements are a vital ingredient for this post. Currently the faculty offers Year 11 GCSE courses in Triple Science, Core and Additional Science. The Year 10s are studying the new AQA (9-1) specification. At KS5 we offer AS and A2 in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and BTEC level 3 Applied Science

This exciting opportunity will enable the successful candidate to develop an excellent foundation for future leadership roles.

If you think this might be the role for you, please contact Lisa Reeder at Carlton Bolling College for an information pack and an application form.

If you would like to visit the school, please contact Mr Mohammed Imran, Head of Science Faculty.
