Since becoming a Specialist College for Performing Arts in 2001 here at Claremont we have been able to build on our success as a community comprehensive school: employing additional specialist staff; investing in high quality information, communication and technology equipment, available to all subject areas; expanding the curriculum offer at KS3, KS4 and post 16; creating and sustaining greater opportunities for staff, pupils and community groups to engage in a vast range of enrichment and learning activities; commissioning an architect designed multi-purpose arts hall costing nearly half a million pounds (2002) and architect designed Sports Complex (starting in 2005) and refurbishing specialist teaching areas.

We have experienced the benefits of focused long-term planning and the security of knowing that we have the resources to support our challenging academic targets. The continuing success of Year 9 pupils in their SATS, year 11 students in their GCSEs and Years 12 and 13 students at A level is testament to the benefits that come and will continue to come through our focus on achieving excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning. This year’s GCSE results equalled those of last year with 70% of students achieving five or more excellent GCSE passes. The school’s value added score continues to be very high and stands amongst the best in the country for schools of a similar kind.
