We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Teacher of Science to join in September 2017. Longsands Academy is a thriving 11-18 comprehensive school rated as good by Ofsted in October 2014. We are part of the St Neots Learning Partnership Trust and work closely with our partner school, Ernulf Academy to provide the best possible learning experience for the young people of St Neots. St Neots is a market town with good facilities, within easy reach of Cambridge and with excellent transport links to London.
For an outstanding candidate, we will offer a joining bonus inclusive of a lump sum upon recruitment followed by a further lump sum in 12 months subject to excellent performance. A relocation allowance and Trust owned accommodation at significantly reduced rent may also be available for those moving to the area.
At St Neots Learning Partnership, you can expect a supportive culture within a Trust with very high aspirations. We value our staff and there are many development opportunities within the Partnership. All teachers receive an i-pad to assist with planning and communications. There is a fully equipped Gym available for staff use.
We have very strong Physics, Chemistry and Biology departments. Our Chemistry department’s summer results ranked number one (of seventeen) schools in Cambridgeshire and was in the top 4% of schools nationally. Our Biology results ranked third (of nineteen) schools in Cambridgeshire and was in the top 25% of schools nationally. Finally, our Physics results ranked six (of seventeen) schools in Cambridgeshire and were in the top 18% of schools nationally. We are happy to consider any Science subject specialism (although the ability to teach Chemistry to A-level would be desirable, though not essential). We would welcome interest from established teachers or NQTs. Longsands Academy has a strong track record of supporting and retaining NQT’s by ensuring excellent mentoring and many opportunities for involvement in wider school activities.
The successful person would be joining an energetic and committed Science team, which encourages and promotes teamwork, professional development and continuous improvement. Biology, Chemistry, Physics and BTEC Applied Science are extremely popular A level choices year on year, and the influence of Science is high across the Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to be part of moving the Science department forward to delivering outstanding Science education for all.
