Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Science teacher who makes student learning and progress central to their teaching.

Successful candidates will value continually improving their practice and contribute to the development of other teachers by sharing ideas on best practice. Teachers of all specialisms are encouraged to apply. The ability to teach up to KS5 in your area of specialism would be beneficial but not essential.

You will be able to support the promotion of excellent standards of learning, achievement, progress, attainment and behaviour by working effectively and collaboratively. You will be passionate about your specialist subject and seek to positively impact your field and the Academy.

The Faculty

The Science team is made up of 12 Science teachers who teach across Biology, Chemistry and Physics at KS3 and KS4. The Science faculty is accommodated in ten laboratories that have recently been refurbished. We work together, as a team, to give our students the powerful scientific knowledge they need for successful lives. We aim to encourage a love of science in our students; we want them to have a sense of wonder, curiosity and understanding about how the world and universe work. We endeavour to use evidence-based pedagogy to achieve the best learning for all our students.

At KS4, approximately 40% of our students study separate Sciences from the start of Y10, and the remaining cohort study combined Science following the AQA specification. At KS5, students study Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Applied Science following the Edexcel specification.
