John Flamsteed Community School is a small, friendly, aspirational and extremely popular 11-16 school. The school has celebrated its best ever set of GCSE examination results in 2016 where outcomes rose in all measures for the second consecutive year with 64% of students achieving 5 A*-C including English and Maths. From September 2016 we offered a post-16 provision in partnership with Amber Valley Sixth Form.

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious classroom practitioner to join this highly successful department. We are looking for evidence of high quality classroom practice leading to excellent results. We expect a proven track record of delivering ‘Outstanding’ lessons alongside exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and experience of successful strategies for improving motivation in learning across the curriculum. We require a highly skilled teacher who can provide inspirational teaching from KS3 to KS4 and across a range of different abilities.

The post would suit NQTs or more experienced Teachers. This is a Fixed Term Contract, until end of August 2018.

John Flamsteed Community School is a mixed, mainstream, non-denominational secondary school in Denby, Derbyshire. It caters to students aged 11 to 16 and has approximately 852 pupils enrolled.

John Flamsteed Community School was founded in 1894 as Smithy Houses School. It reopened under its current name in 1981.

John Flamsteed has "...high expectations of staff and pupils... a culture of belief in which all feel valued... Staff morale is high. Pupils recognise that their teachers want them to do well and succeed in life. Pupils are proud to be members of the school. They are polite, confident and articulate... Staff model positive behaviours, which pupils replicate. There are extremely positive relationships between staff and pupils"
