The Sir John Colfox Academy is looking for a Teacher of Science to join our fantastic team. Could this be you?

Actual Salary £30,000 - £46,525 per annum (M1 to UP3).

This job is Full Time.

It is offered on a Permanent basis.

Approximate start date 01-Sep-2024.

Required for September 2024, an enthusiastic, well-qualified and successful classroom practitioner to teach Science at KS3, KS4 and KS5. The successful candidate will need to be able to deliver their specialism up to A Level, ideally they will be a Physics or Chemistry specialist, but Biology specialists are also welcome to apply. We are looking for a colleague who has a real passion for their subject, who is reflective and able to enthuse, motivate and challenge their students. The ideal candidate upholds high standards in their teaching and professional development and has high expectations for student learning.

We are an outwardly facing school in a beautiful part of the country and this is a great time to join our school. We offer Year 5 challenge days, which are always oversubscribed and organise the Trust Science Fair to encourage and engage younger students.

The Science department encourages STEM initiatives. We are a national space education school and are offering GCSE astronomy from September 2024.

The successful candidate will be joining a department of 6 Science specialist teachers. Science is a popular subject in the school and we offer AQA Separate Sciences and AQA Combined Science Trilogy options at GCSE. Our Key Stage 3 & 4 Schemes of work are based on AQA’s five year curriculum and we are well resourced, with access to Kerboodle for all our students as well as text books available at both Key Stage 3 and 4 for class work.

At A level we teach the OCR-A Specifications in Chemistry, Biology and Physics. These are all very popular courses and our students make excellent progress during their studies in the Joint Sixth Form.

Our department supports PGCE and Schools direct trainees through our work with the Jurassic Coast Alliance and we have several staff involved in training our students.

We would welcome applications from Early Career Teachers.
