Tes is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiration Teacher of Science to join an innovative and popular school from September 2020. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join an 'Outstanding' 11-18 school where students consistently outperform national expectations in terms of both attainment and progress. You will be joining one of the most popular and successful schools in north London.

The excellent Science Faculty teaches a variety of courses, including separate science and trilogy GCSEs and A level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The faculty consists of a team of 16 teachers, including specialists in all three sciences and receives excellent support from 4 technicians. The leadership structure includes a second in faculty with 3 heads of subject and 3 heads of key stage. At GCSE, AQA courses are studied. In 2019 results were higher than the national averages for all major exam boards at grades 9 to 4 including the award of 24 grade 9s. At A Level, AQA Biology and Chemistry and Edexcel Physics are studied with multiple classes running in all three sciences.  The faculty has use of 10 labs each with a desk top computer and projector. A new IT room has been installed in the faculty as a dedicated 6th form study area for science students.

The school plays an active role in the European Erasmus project with students on exchange programmes to countries such as Denmark, Germany and Finland on such issues such as radiation and the journey towards the use of nuclear fusion as an energy source. Other extracurricular activities include year 7 science club and the Enfield Mayor’s science award competition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver consistently excellent lessons that lead to high levels of student progress and contribute to departmental lesson planning and curriculum reviews
  • Engage with an evidence and research based approach to curriculum development that puts your department at the forefront of innovative curriculum design
  • Contribute to the curriculum to ensure that it meets the needs of all students including SEND, gifted and talented and EAL students
  • Work with the Head of Department to ensure that GCSE and exam courses are planned in line with exam specifications
  • Be accountable for student progress in your classes
  • Track student progress and make intelligent use of data to identify under-performance, plan appropriate support and achieve excellent outcomes for students


You Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Appropriate qualifications in science or related disciplines
  • Successful teaching experience across KS3 - KS5
  • Ability to motivate students and staff
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and share workloads
  • Experience of working with pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Ability to demonstrate a pro-active approach in taking responsibility for your own work 


The school is highly committed to developing staff, where weekly CPD is offered. The school also offer staff places on the Outstanding Teacher Programme, NPQML and other bespoke courses.
