Forest is seeking to appoint a well-qualified, dynamic, and dedicated Science Teacher from any of the three specialisms to teach the Departments curriculum at all of the three Key Stages offered by the School. The successful candidate will have demonstrable teaching expertise with the ability to promote the engagement and enjoyment of Science beyond the classroom. As an excellent team player, you will also share the School's passion for encouraging all students to work towards their maximum potential.

The Science faculty at Forest School occupies a central place in the academic life of the School. The subject and its teachers are very popular with pupils and academic results are some of the School’s strongest. 

At present, the Science faculty comprises of twenty two members of teaching staff. The Science building has fourteen laboratories including two large preparation rooms and six Laboratory Assistants to assist with the preparation of lessons. The Department has a wide range of apparatus and a well-stocked chemical store, enabling practical work to enjoy its rightful place as a central part of the pupils’ learning.  

In Y9 pupils study Biology, Chemistry and Physics separately. In Y10 and Y11 a flexible curriculum allows pupils to continue their IGCSE Science by either taking Double Award Science or a minimum of two separate awards from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. All routes can lead to A level study. 

The person appointed will join an exciting and very successful Department, and will make a full range of contributions to the life of the School. There is a firm focus upon providing high quality teaching and learning within the department, and the successful candidate will have the ability to share with pupils  his or her own curiosity about how the world around us works and their enthusiasm for Science.
