Teacher of Science required for January 2018

(Plus relocation package and 3 months free accommodation)

William Edwards has one of the best Science Departments in the country with 2017 results 22% higher than any other local school (75% double award Science A*-C). Student progress in 2017 was above the national average.

William Edwards is a very popular, oversubscribed 11-16 school, judged ‘outstanding’ by OfSTED.  It is the strategic lead school for the Thurrock Teaching School Alliance and is part of the growing South West Essex Community Education Trust. Core subject pupil outcomes are significantly above the national average. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic teacher to join our highly committed Science team. We will welcome applications from people at any stage of their career as we know that the training and development we can offer is second to none and with a new trust Secondary Free School recently approved by the DfE, continued career progression in the future is a real possibility.

The Science Department is well resourced and has seen significant recent investment including new laboratories, iPads for all staff and Apple TV in every room. The Department also benefits from highly experienced full-time technicians and is currently engaged in a range of work to further develop pedagogy across the department and school.

The school offers a comprehensive induction programme for all new staff and a strong commitment to continuing staff development and training through the Teaching School.

If you have energy and passion in abundance and would relish the opportunity to join our Science team, we look forward to hearing from you. Salary and responsibility are negotiable for the right candidate and we would welcome pre-application visits.

William Edwards School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants for this post must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and a DBS check with the Disclosure & Barring Service.
