We are seeking to appoint someone with excellent subject knowledge, who is able to respond positively and creatively to the expectations of the subject and has the ability to enthuse students.

Science is a very high performing department, achieving amongst the best results in the County. This success is a result of a keen focus on progress and developing a love of Science for all students. The successful candidate must have good organisation and communication skills and embrace school life.

About John Hanson Community School

John Hanson Community School is a mixed, mainstream, non-denominational secondary school located in Andover, Hampshire. The school accepts students within the 11-16 age range.

The school gets its name from the merchant who founded it, John Hanson. In 1569, he gave £200 from his retirement funds to establish a school and pay the schoolmaster. The first school building was opened in 1851. In September 2002, the new John Hanson Community School opened its doors to students.

Values and vision

John Hanson Community School in Hampshire teaches students to respect themselves and others, as well as instilling responsibility. Staff aim to inspire students to be their best through a mandate of supported challenge. The school ethos values the individual and sets high standards of behaviour.

The secondary school aims to provide a well-rounded education. Teachers offer excellent learning in the classroom, as well as with extra-curricular programmes that include sport, the arts and cultural and social experiences.
