Job overview

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Science specialist to join our successful Science Faculty in a brand new, purpose built Science block with 12 high specification teaching laboratories.  Our experienced teachers are supported by specialist technicians.

Science at Parmiter’s attracts a large number of students to the Sixth Form and currently there are 21 A level Science teaching groups.  Over half the cohort study Triple Science at GCSE.  Attainment at GCSE and A level is consistently excellent.

The role will suit either an Early Career Teacher or a more experienced colleague with a passion for Science and the skills to engage students across the age and ability range. The successful applicant will be able to teach all of the science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) at KS3.  At GCSE staff usually teach within their specialism.  A Level teaching can be offered to suitably qualified candidates.

The role is offered as full-time but applications from those interested in a part-time position will be considered.

Early application is advised as we reserve the right to close the advert early should a suitable candidate be found.

We can offer:

  • July 1st start date for ECTs (Early Career Teacher) with a comprehensive programme to  support the Early Careers Framework
  • An admission policy prioritising the children of staff.
  • Robust induction programme and bespoke CPD to suit your career goals
  • Competitive salary with London fringe allowance
  • Highly talented and engaged students
  • Lovely school grounds in leafy surrounds with an on-site gym and Sports Facilities
  • Support for completion of an MA, if desired

Parmiter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must declare any criminal convictions as the post is exempt  under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointments will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service and references from previous employers. We are an Equal Opportunities employer.

The Good Schools Guide

Parmiter's School relocated to the current 60 acre rural Hertfordshire site from London's East End in 1977.  The site is currently undergoing a period of development and has recently opened a new £4m state of the art Science facility. The school enjoys a good reputation for traditional values and academic achievement whilst maintaining a true family feel among staff and students.

Experienced teachers, Early Careers Teachers and support staff benefit from a supportive leadership team who focus on personal development and wellbeing as a priority. Staff benefit from complimentary use of a new Fitness Suite facility.

Parmiter's leads the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training in collaboration with 11 local schools, the University of Hertfordshire and Herts for Learning.

The school is consistently over subscribed for Year 7 and Sixth Form entry.  Children of staff are a priority for admission.
