Beaumont school is offering an excellent opportunity to join a high-achieving department within an outstanding school (Ofsted, 2014), which places wellbeing at the heart of decision-making and actively supports staff in their continued development. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled Science teacher, who is able to teach all ages and abilities, 11-18. Many of our students choose to study ‘Triple Science’ at KS4 and we regularly have large KS5 cohorts. The Science Department is the largest in the school and benefits from experienced and newer members of staff. Science is well resourced and supported by five excellent technicians. The department has a high profile within the school and achieves outstanding results. Large numbers of students go on to study science subjects at university and we offer a full enrichment programme including the Biology Olympiad, Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, CREST Awards, and much more. This is an exciting time to join our team as we have recently moved into a new, state of the art Science Block, which includes 12 modern laboratories and three preparation rooms, as well as a teachers’ workroom.

Early applications are encouraged as the school reserves the right to close the advert should we feel able to appoint an appropriate candidate.

Please indicate in your application whether you are seeking full- or part-time employment.

Beaumont is an oversubscribed, mixed comprehensive school, with Academy status, of over 1500 students, including a sixth form of 486. It enjoys an excellent reputation and achieves the very highest levels of academic success across a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by excellent pastoral care.  In 2014, Ofsted found Beaumont to be an outstanding school in all categories. The school receives strong support from parents and our local community and its staff are dedicated to ensuring that students reach their full potential and to creating a vibrant and inspirational environment for learning.

We are so proud of our students who undertook public exams in 2023 and the wonderful results they achieved.  They have demonstrated great resilience to achieve outstanding grades at both A Level and GCSE, in spite of all the challenges of going through secondary education during a pandemic.

At KS4 there were hugely impressive results across the board, from the number of top grades achieved to the highest percentage of students gaining grade 4 or above in both English and Maths in the school’s history (92%). 42% of the results were at grades 9 - 7 and we achieved a Progress 8 score of 0.7.

Beaumont’s Sixth Form students did themselves proud yet again in 2023, reaping the fruits of all their hard work to gain outstanding results, including 76 A* grades at ‘A’ Level. At KS5, the A Level APS per entry was 39.8, meaning the average grade awarded was a B.  Many have won places on some of the most competitive university courses in the land, including several who are heading to Oxbridge.

All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
