Job overview
Required for the summer term, we are seeking to appoint an inspirational and dedicated teacher to join our Science department in our brand new school building. We are looking to recruit a passionate individual who is both committed to excellent teaching and learning, and to inspiring young people to achieve their best possible outcomes.
To be successful, you should be suitably qualified to teach Science to KS3 and Physics to KS4. For the right candidate there may be an opportunity to teach Physics at A level in the future.
Applications are invited from applicants at any stage of their career. The school has an excellent track record of supporting and developing NQTs.
The post is temporary to cover for a vacancy, pending the outcome of an internal period of secondment which ends in August 2019.
The Academy has recently been inspected by both SIAMS and OFSTED and received Good in both inspections. The Academy has a dynamic leadership team across both senior and middle leaders, and professional development opportunities for all our staff.

About The Ilfracombe Academy
The Ilfracombe Academy is an 11-18 Church of England Academy located in the town of Ilfracombe, on a hill overlooking the sea. The school is a new build under the Priority School Building Programme and was completed in October 2017. There are currently approximately 1070 students on roll with 140 in the Sixth Form. The school role is rising due to demographic changes, and also to the fact that the school is becoming increasingly popular with parents and children as their first choice school.

The school was inspected by SIAMS in February 2017 and was judged to be Good with Outstanding leadership. OFSTED also judged the school to be Good in all categories in 2017 and stated “The Headteacher and other senior leaders demonstrate high expectations and have clear ambition for the school”. The school has “grown” many of its leaders and is committed to offering all staff the opportunity to develop professionally. Staff value the wide range of CPD on offer.
The school has a four-year rising trend of GCSE results but there is no sense of complacency and the school values applications from candidates who are committed to making a difference to the lives of young people in the coastal community.
