We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join our dedicated and well-resourced Science department. We are looking for a candidate who is ambitious and creative, an effective classroom practitioner. We welcome applications from both NQTs and experienced teachers who will receive dedicated support to enhance their professional development and teaching and learning practice.
The successful candidate will teach both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and a full range of classes across the curriculum area. You will participate in the planning and preparation of schemes of work and participate in the regular monitoring, assessing and recording of students’ work, consistent with Curriculum Area and whole school policies.
Science is one of the school’s most recent success stories in delivering good GCSE outcomes. There is significant scope to contribute to this development through collaborative planning, resource development and delegated leadership of key areas. The successful candidate will be expected to share the team’s drive, ambition and reflective practice.
Honley High School has a strong reputation locally for academic excellence. Pupils at Honley make “above average” progress compared with pupils of similar abilities in other schools and in 2017 we recorded a progress 8 figure of +0.17. Honley High School is rightly recognised for its long-standing tradition of academic excellence and for its friendly, inclusive, caring approach to the needs of young people. We are very proud of what we do here, proud of our record of student and staff success, and proud of the young people our students become over the time they spend with us. Over a number of years the achievement of our students has gained us recognition as being among the highest performing non-selective schools in Kirklees. We have over 1200 students and work hard to ensure that we get to know all of them as individuals, so we are able to support them through this crucial time in their lives. Honley is within easy reach of Leeds, Sheffield and Huddersfield, and the school offers an outstanding NQT induction programme. NQT’s will be subject to a one year probationary period.
The successful candidate can expect:
- A supportive and friendly team of dedicated Science teachers with focus upon improving student outcomes today to create Scientists of the future.
- Motivated students who are eager to learn and engage in lessons.
- The chance to work with teachers and middle leaders who are relentless in their drive to deliver the best learning experiences to their students.
- A commitment to their further development through a well-structured CPD programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for a forward thinking and ambitious teacher to become part of a large and successful team which values high standards of academic achievement whilst developing the knowledge, skills and qualities needed to help students thrive in life and work.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
