Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a Teacher of Science to join a College based in Leicestershire.

The College is now recruiting for a Teacher of Science / Chemistry. This role could be your next career opportunity!

Due to expanding numbers and popularity they are seeking to recruit an outstanding science teacher from 27th August 2024 to join their thriving science faculty with the opportunity to teach across all three key stages. Their science laboratories are modern and well equipped with all teachers having their own dedicated laboratory.

About the College

The College is an oversubscribed 11 to 18 school, which has seen significant improvements over the last five years. The most recent Ofsted inspection rated the school as Good in all areas stating that ‘Pupils at the College experience a culture of respect and positivity’ and that ‘Leaders have established an inclusive and calm environment in which pupils can learn’. Staff and students follow ‘The College Way’, to create a positive, learning culture in which all students are immersed. The spacious, well-maintained site offers excellent facilities over 40 acres. They have dedicated areas for a variety of sports, the arts and technology subjects.

They are proud of their ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum providing broad and balanced opportunities for their students. As part of the David Ross Education Trust, the curriculum is hugely supported through Curriculum Leads, resources and training sessions. Teachers follow a common lesson rubric and embedded routines to deliver high quality learning and consistency across the school. All classrooms are well equipped and have a visualisers in every room.

The College are dedicated to developing and supporting staff at every stage of their career. They have a bespoke evidence-informed CPD programme that allows opportunities to use the latest research to advance the intent, implementation and impact of the curriculum. They are huge champions of further professional development and actively encourage staff to take opportunities including NPQs and Masters.

They continue to develop their outstanding enrichment opportunities, covering sport, arts, music and adventurous and residential visits, to inspire participation, motivate their students and develop talent. They have a varied calendar of events throughout the year showcasing these areas and staff are encouraged and supported to develop learning outside the classroom.

About the role

The current science faculty is a strong and supportive team of five experienced teachers with a variety of specialisms and responsibilities. They have two dedicated technicians that support with the preparation of practical activities and resources. The results for both separate and combined science are increasing year on year and are on target to be the best ever this summer. Science is a popular area of the curriculum and they have increasing numbers of students selecting separate science at GCSE level. They teach a highly ambitious, fully resourced, curriculum from year 7 to year 13 and follow the AQA specifications at both GCSE and A level. All three of the sciences prove a popular choice for their post-16 students.

They are looking for an excellent practitioner of science, the candidate would be expected to teach all specialisms up to GCSE Level. At A Level they would prefer a Chemistry specialist, but are more interested in getting the right candidate and so welcome applications from other specialisms.

They are looking for a motivated, hard working individual who will support and challenge all students and will work effortfully and deliberately, to improve outcomes for all.

They would welcome applications from ECTs and qualified teachers

This is a full time, permanent position.
