FULL TIME TEACHER OF SCIENCE MPS
Due to retirement an opportunity has arisen for a full time teacher, holding Qualified Teacher Status, to join the science department at Lord Derby Academy.
You will be able to deliver science to pupils across the ability range at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This is an ideal opportunity for a Newly Qualified Teacher seeking their first post in an exciting school or an experienced teacher looking for a new opportunity. The post is to start in January 2018.

As a teacher of science you will be part of a friendly and dedicated department. Staff hold high expectations for all pupils and work tirelessly to raise attainment and achievement. The science department are committed to raising the profile of science across the school.
Science and STEM is taught to all Key Stage 3 pupils and they follow a pathway to develop their investigative skills and make links to the wider world. A group of Key Stage 3 pupils have designed a wildlife garden and are involved the maintenance of the garden as part of their enrichment programme; pupils have access to this space to undertake their ecology studies and this forms part of our STEM provision. Pupils have also benefitted from access to a visiting planetarium and we have been lucky enough to have moon rock loaned to the department.
All Key Stage 4 pupils study a minimum of 2 science GCSEs. Key Stage 4 pupils have received specialist talks from STEM ambassadors and have been involved in a science focused careers trip to explore post-16 provision.
We are highly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils and we expect all our staff to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS vetting procedures are required for all posts.
