Science and STEM is taught to all Key Stage 3 pupils and they follow a pathway to develop their investigative skills and make links to the wider world. A group of Key Stage 3 pupils have designed a wildlife garden and are involved the maintenance of the garden as part of their enrichment programme; pupils have access to this space to undertake their ecology studies and this forms part of our STEM provision. Pupils have also benefitted from access to a visiting planetarium and we have been lucky enough to have moon rock loaned to the department.
All Key Stage 4 pupils study a minimum of 2 science GCSEs. Key Stage 4 pupils have received specialist talks from STEM ambassadors and have been involved in a science focused careers trip to explore post-16 provision.
