Teacher of Science Maternity Cover with potential of permanent position
Mainscale
Start date 1st September 2018
Tours and a conversation with the Headteacher/Head of Department will be welcomed
St. Gregory’s Catholic High School is the highest performing school in Warrington for pupil progress measures and the most improved High School in the Liverpool Archdiocese. We are currently ranked in the top 18% of schools nationally for performance.
We are looking to appoint an excellent teacher of Chemistry (desirable) for an initial 12-month maternity cover period with very realistic potential for the post to become permanent due to the school’s increasing pupil numbers and expansion.
The successful candidate would be working with an effective, dynamic team of subject specialists who strive to provide the best learning experience for pupils through high expectations, inspirational teaching and personalised support. Achievement in the department is outstanding and GCSE results are significantly above national in all areas.
In Years 7 and 8 pupils follow a science curriculum that focuses on skills and content that will prepare them well for the demands of GCSE. Year 9 pupils follow the GCSE curriculum, and Years 10 and 11 pupils study the ‘AQA Combined Science Trilogy’ course or opt for the three separate science subjects.
The department consists of 7 full-time, 1 part-time teacher of Science and 1 technician. Science teaching takes place in six large laboratories which are well resourced and from September 2018 we will have a further 2 new additional specialist laboratories housed in our new STEM building.
This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding and effective practitioner who has the desire to continue to raise standards across the department. The successful candidate will be passionate about science and will be personally driven to ensure that every child achieves and makes good progress.
