An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding teacher to join our thriving and successful Trust to teach Science in Key Stages 3 and 4 at Langdon Academy.
Langdon Academy is a large 4-16 school, with over 1700 students in the secondary phase, and is part of Brampton Manor Trust. We work in close partnership with Brampton Manor Academy (an outstanding 11-18 Academy), which is the other school within our multi-academy trust (MAT). There is great spirit, energy and optimism in the school since joining the MAT in 2014 which has led to substantial improvements and successes in every aspect of school life, placing the school “well above average”, with Progress 8 now in the top 8% of schools in England. However, this is by no means sufficient, given the potential of our young people.
Our assessments indicate that our whole-school 2018 data will show a significant improvement on all previous performance levels, with substantial further gains in the separate Sciences as well as Combined Science. Science is a passion for many of our students and an area of real strength in the school. The department which has made an enormous contribution to school improvement in recent years, and to our impressive Ebacc performance, but is constantly striving for even greater success. In short, these are exciting times for the department and the school as a whole.
This appointment is a golden opportunity to strengthen our team further with a new, talented and enthusiastic Science specialist and, due to the skills already in our team, this could be a physicist, a chemist, or a biologist. If that sounds like you, we’d be keen to hear from you. You will be joining a very strong team of subject specialists, with highly energetic and inspirational leaders to support you through the next stages of your professional development.
The scale of Langdon and its membership of Brampton Manor Trust, provides considerable opportunity for further development. This post would suit a NQT or a more experienced colleague looking to broaden their experience. A TLR point may be available to take on additional responsibility within the department / school.
