The Governors of Holy Family Catholic Academy are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspirational individual to teach Science to the full age and ability range.
HFCA is a smaller than average size 11-16 sponsored academy that was established in September 2013.  In our first Ofsted report, we were judged Good across all categories, and we are proud to be a rapidly improving and highly ambitious school. In 2014, we saw a strong improvement in outcomes for students across a range of performance indicators. The Academy has a strong reputation for its inclusive provision and pastoral care, and we are also privileged to have been awarded Artsmark Gold status for commitment to, and excellence in, arts and cultural education.

We are seeking a consistently good classroom teacher who has the potential, determination and drive to become outstanding and who is committed to delivering outstanding results for all students.

The successful person will have:

  • QTS and a good degree
  • the ability to inspire, motivate, challenge and support our students and parents
  • the ability, drive and passion to raise standards in teaching and learning
  • an understanding of how bring about rapid and sustained improvement in student outcomes
  • a commitment to participating fully to the Catholic life of the academy
  • a commitment to contributing to extra-curricular activities
  • a commitment to your own professional development

This post is ideally suited for someone with drive, resilience and determination and who thrives on challenge. It offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to gain experience within a highly ambitious and hardworking organisation that both encourages and challenges everyone. It is not a requirement of the post that the successful candidate is a practicing Catholic, however it would be expected that they support the ethos of the Academy.

This post would be suitable for a highly motivated NQT or experienced teacher who feel they can make a significant contribution to both the Science Faculty and the Academy.

For full details, to discuss the role or to request an application pack, please contact our recruitment partner, Arthur (Aj) Blyth at Hays Education on arthur.blyth@hays.com or 0114 217 1556. We welcome visits from potential candidates-please contact Aj Blyth to arrange this.

The closing date for this post is Monday 29th February at 12 noon.
Interview dates are to be confirmed.

Holy Family Catholic Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Values and vision

Holy Family Catholic Academy is a small, expanding, inclusive secondary school that places the student at the heart of its provision. Teachers take pride in knowing every pupil. Small class sizes and inclusive pastoral "wrap-around" care for all students foster a cohesive sense of community.

The school is firmly established as a Premier League School for Performing Arts. HFCA was crowned 2014 national champion in a prestigious performing arts competition, the Global Rock Challenge.

Ofsted report

“The teaching of mathematics is good. Students rise to the regular oral mathematical challenges that teachers pose, working out mental calculations with increasing confidence. In books, work over time shows opportunities for students to apply their mathematical knowledge and deepen their understanding to solve everyday problems.”
