Job overview

An innovative and inspirational Science Teacher is needed to focus on leading teaching and learning within the department and ensuring all students make progress.

Grace Academy Darlaston, is a vibrant and improving secondary Academy on the outskirts of Walsall. We have approximately 650 students on roll across the Academy and are expanding rapidly. Following a period of under-achievement, our staff have worked exceedingly hard to ensure that outcomes will improve this year at both key stages.

The Academy is on an upward journey, if you consider yourself to be a teacher capable of helping us along that journey in our Science department, you are more than welcome to pay us a visit to see our outstanding facilities first hand.

We are seeking a Science Teacher who has the capacity to lead/manage the development of teaching and learning and who has the ability to become a Head of Faculty within 3-5 years. The ability to teach across all key stages would be an advantage but not essential.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and influential teacher. In return we will offer the post holder exceptional leadership and management development/CPD.

You will be able to demonstrate unwavering commitment to raising student progress and standards. Like us, you will believe that social disadvantage is no barrier to achievement and that every student can share in the joy of education. Most importantly, you will possess integrity, good humour and moral purpose.

We place great emphasis on the support and development of the whole individual and on the moral and spiritual values of all of our youngsters. To support these principles, the Academy is founded on an ethos based on Christian values of Grace, Integrity, Respect, Excellence and Potential.

If you require an application pack please contact email gadrecruitment@graceacademy.org.uk or for any enquiries call Helen Allport on 0121 568 3300.

Closing date for applications is Friday 14th October 2016.

Informal visits available on request.

Our Academy continues to move forward at pace, our Recent Ofsted report in April 2022 states ‘Excellence is one of the key values of the school. This value is the guiding principle of the curriculum. The school encourages pupils to achieve high academic aims and develop as well-rounded individuals.’ The outcome of the Inspection was that ‘Grace Academy Darlaston continues to be a good school’. All members of our school community – students, parents and staff should be proud of this achievement.

It is a privilege for us to be entrusted with the job of leading Grace Academy Darlaston and continuing this excellent work. It is our intention to see the Academy continue to flourish and to guide all students to achieve their full potential whilst embracing the core values that Tove Learning Trust’s Grace Academies uphold.

Values and vision

Grace Academy has a Christian ethos based upon its five shared values of grace, respect, integrity, potential and excellence. As part of its vision to develop citizens who make a difference, the school engages students and staff in the work of a dedicated Ethos Team. The Ethos Team includes a dedicated member of the leadership team, youth workers and an RSE programme coordinator. They work together with key staff to help students develop a sense of identity, make wise and well-informed choices, live with aspiration, and understand and apply the school’s values.

Through the secondary school’s Business and Enterprise Specialism, it draws on the expertise of more than 62 business professionals from 16 local companies, who offer students workshops and advice to help improve their employability.
